BqEvents

The brief: "Create a new website for a private chef and event caterer in the Netherlands. Make it easy to list different catering packages. The ability to easily update the content. Fast loading and must look good on mobile."

BqEvents

Aline from BqEvents is a dutch chef and events caterer. She approached me to design and build her new website, where she can showcase her work and attract new clients.

After reviewing her requirements I decided that Directus would be a good fit for her projects. While I’ve used Directus for other client projects, I had always used it alongside Nuxt. This was the first project with Directus and Astro.

Conclusion

Overall the development went smoothly, with a few new things I needed to learn. Aline is now able to construct pages using a collection of building blocks, while keeping her content structured (testimonials, packages, menus, etc).

On the Directus side, I setup a singleton to manage the general site info (navigation, social links, branding, etc) and collections for pages, packages, menus, testimonials, clients, recipes and client projects.

As with all my projects, performance is at the heart of everything I do. Here is a quick break down of the sites performance:

What’s next?

Aline starting adding her content and will continue to refine what is already there, adding more photos of her creations as she gets them.

On my end, I’ve already started work on a browser extension to capture structured data from the current website you’re on, as a quick easy way to save a to a designated collection in Directus. I’ll also be adding some conversion tools to her Insights dashboard.
